The jewel, rendered as cut stone.
FACET is one system in two expressions. The old system rendered JUWEL as candy — gloss, sugar gradients, bounce. FACET renders her as what a jewel is: precise planes, still surfaces, light that behaves lawfully. One glint on a machined edge, not a rainbow across glass. Precision, calm, permanence — the properties of a cut stone are the properties of the product.
The mineral palette.
Light is default (alabaster). Dark is first-class (obsidian). Both are warm neutrals — never blue-gray, never grape. Gem accents carry meaning; they are never decorative.
The amber rule.
Amber belongs to JUWEL and the record. Nothing else. If a screen shows amber in more than two places at rest, it is wrong.
Every ordinary control is ink
Buttons, tabs, toggles — ink on paper or paper on ink. Quiet, instrument-grade. No gradient, no sheen, no pill.
Amber is JUWEL, or the record
The send-to-JUWEL action, her cursor, her glints, signed / on-the-record chips, and the keyboard focus ring. Never anything else.
Plus Jakarta Sans, and the record voice.
Plus Jakarta Sans carries display and body — recut to 500 / 600 / 700 (800 is retired outside the Vext Labs wordmark). Geist Mono is the record voice: eyebrows, timestamps, hashes, status, receipt bodies. No serif. No italics — emphasis is weight and color.
The pane and the glint.
Two materials and one signature. The pane is a near-opaque working surface with a machined top light. Chrome glass — the one translucent material — is for the menubar, dock, and command palette only. The glint is the signature: a single specular streak that fires on an event, then settles. Never ambient.
Windows, cards, menus. Hairline border, machined top edge, near-opaque. Work needs contrast, not translucence.
One neutral translucent material. No tint, no rim, no gradient.
Light catching a cut edge. Fires on window activation, a receipt signing, JUWEL starting to act.
Ink slabs. One amber action.
Primary controls are ink slabs — no gradient, no sheen, no pill. The quiet control is a hairline ghost. The single amber fill is reserved for the one action that hands the job to JUWEL. Inputs are surface wells with an amber focus ring.
The receipt.
Identical on juwel.ai and vextlabs.ai — the one component both sites share. The record is stated quietly and factually, never sold, never the headline.
Still, until something happens.
The background never moves on its own — frame delta under 0.5px over any three idle seconds. Motion is earned by an event, uses one ease-out curve, and settles under 300ms. Bounce and overshoot are banned.
